Peter Coccoma makes films and music.
After years of playing in bands, he moved to an island in Lake Superior where he wrote his debut solo album for electronics and strings, A Place to Begin, that was featured as one of NPR’s Best Albums of the Year. He’s directed music videos for labels such as Bella Union, Sony, and Smithsonian Folkways. His experimental short film, Jeano, was commissioned by Smithsonian Folkways, and his first narrative short film, Giro Prepares for Death, played the Indie Memphis, New Hampshire, and Minneapolis St. Paul Film Festivals.
Drifts, his newest short, recently toured as an expanded performance with composer Elori Saxl. He is currently developing his debut feature.
