Peter Coccoma is a filmmaker and composer. After years of playing in bands, he moved to an island in Lake Superior where he wrote his debut solo album of music for electronics and strings, A Place to Begin, that was featured as one of NPR’s Best Albums of the Year. He’s directed music videos under different aliases for labels such as Bella Union, Sony, and Smithsonian Folkways. His experimental short film, Jeano, was commissioned by Smithsonian Folkways. His first narrative short film, Giro Prepares for Death, played the 2023 Indie Memphis, New Hampshire, and Minneapolis Film Festivals. Drifts is his forthcoming narrative short.
