SYLVIA BERMAN
BIO
Sylvia Berman is a freelance professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher based in Montréal, Quebec. She began her pre-professional training at the Quinte Ballet School of Canada before being accepted into the B.F.A. program at the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase. During her training at Purchase, Sylvia studied ballet, contemporary and modern techniques, as well as improvisation and choreographic composition. She has attended residencies and workshops with Springboard Danse, Arts Umbrella, Banff Centre for the Arts Dance, and Pina Bausch Labs with Rainer Behr and Ditta Miranda Jasjfi. She has performed works by George Balanchine, Bettijane Sills, Eve Chan, and Norbert De La Cruiz III, and works with contemporary choreographers such as Margie Gillis, Brittney Canda, Cai Glover, Tableau D’Hôte Theatre, Kunal Ranchod, and Jera Wolfe. She is currently an artistic collaborator with PLAYDATE Dance, dances soloist roles with Ballet Ouest de Montréal, and tours the Tchaikovsky Candle Light Ballet with Fever Company.
